Entrepreneurs
typically have great vision. They have the ability to see an
objective and work toward it, even though they may not be able to
verbalize the objective. They just see it and are convinced that
it is right. Without those of such vision, those of us of less
vision would have nowhere to "hang our hats". So, our hat is
off to the true entrepreneur. They are the backbone of scientific
progress, capitalism and The American Way.
Entrepreneurs are typically strong in vision. However if the premises is
true that we are all truly balanced beings, there will be a
corresponding weakness to this unusual strength. This
single-vision focus, by necessity, looks only forward and typically has
little concern for what lies to the side or behind. Yet peripheral
and posterior vision is very important to the continued success of the
growing business enterprise.
This situation leaves a weakness exposed. A good visionary will
shore themselves up with those who can sweep up after them, and keep the
periphery intact as they crusade forward. If they ignore these
exposures, not only will they eventually slow their progress, they will
actually, through default, plan their own demise.
It is under this premise that the Silicon Valley Consulting Group
believes that the high-tech startup in the Silicon Valley today has a
critical need for infrastructure building assistance. That is,
assistance to fuel the vision and not distract from it or hold back the
visionary in their pursuit. A good infrastructure consultant, who
has a comprehensive and holistic view of what a company needs in the
various stages of it's growth can prove to be an invaluable aid to the
entrepreneur and entrepreneurial team.
What is Infrastructure?
in·fra·struc·ture n. 1) An underlying base or foundation
especially for an organization or a system. 2) The basic
facilities, services, and installations needed for the functioning of a
community or society, such as transportation and communications systems,
water and power lines, and public institutions including schools, post
offices, and prisons.
The underlying base or foundation required for a corporation can best be
described as the systems, people, concepts and resources required to
support and encourage the main function or purpose of the company.
In other words, if a company produces widgets, anyone involved in the
company who does not directly contribute in a “hands-on” manner with
the production of widgets is part of the infrastructure. They are
necessary to support the production of widgets, not produce them
directly. Also, the systems the employees use are part of
the infrastructure. The policies and procedures which coordinate
and unite the company and provide direction are also part of the
infrastructure. Even the corporate mission and value system support all
employees and play an important role in the decision making process
within the company.
The Silicon Valley Consulting Group is comprised of independent
infrastructure consultants who know how to fuel growth, not restrict it.
Every action taken, and project encountered, is planned and designed for
the future, not just for a quick-fix today. We focus on specific
plans and other producables of value.
